Act 135 - Abandoned & Blighted Property Conservatorship

Passed in 2008, the Abandoned and Blighted Property Conservatorship Act (or Act 135) is a law that provides a way for neighbors, businesses, and non-profit organizations to address certain properties in their community that are neglected and negatively affecting the community. Knowledgeable attorneys can help you navigate the complexities of this law.

In Act 135, neighbors and businesses can petition for an appointment of a third-party conservator to take control of a blighted property to make necessary repairs. The conservator becomes the virtual owner of the property, acquiring the power and responsibility for rehabilitating and selling the property. While Act 135 can be used for a neighborhood's benefit, it can also result in property owners losing ownership of their property for good, with little to no compensation in return.

As a small, quality-driven firm with experience in Act 135, we are prepared to give our clients the personal attention their case deserves. Whether you are served with a petition under Act 135 and need to save your property from a conservatorship, or you are interested in using Act 135 to address an abandoned property in your community, reach out to Benoff Law Firm right away.
